Background
Mnqobi Yazo was born and bred in Durban Kwa-Zulu Natal. He mixes different genres of music but infuses Maskandi Pop and Tribal. He’s love for music began in grade 4 where he used to be a rapper and then later in grade 5 to 7 he joined Isicathamiya competitions where he used to win awards for best Isicathamiya group. When he got to High School he stopped singing because people didn’t know he’s music talent and hadn’t really discovered himself and gained enough confidence. Then later in grade10 he met someone that helped him discover his talent and made him realise that he can actually sing.  He then started looking for people to produce his songs and with no avail he began to teach himself how to produce. After high school he joined Creative Arts College where he began to go through self-discovery as an artist. He started listening to Isicathamiya, Afro Jazz and Maskandi and combined all those different genres to create his own unique genre.  

Music Career
His music career started when he was at college in his 2nd year where was able to put he’s songs on all local stations but cemented his career on his 3rd year at college, where he started doing performances. He was ft. in a song called Ntombazane by Cannon. That was the first time he got his song played on one of the big commercial radio stations. Then he composed the song called Khuluma featured by Aewon Wolf, this song was first performed on Live Amp, from what he had written they also used the song for a campaign called Khuluma Break the Silence. He is now part of a group called Future Africa consisting of Aewon Wolf, Sibu Nzuza and Sounds Taboo. They are Busy with an EP called Mngaga Swahili word meaning traditional healers. He is also releasing his LP(long play) called Iscephu meaning the laying of foundation. The LP introduces and lays a foundation of who Mnqobi is. This LP consists of 9 songs each song telling a story of his life experiences.
